Who we are?The Castang Foundation was founded by Miss Hilda Castang who had a brother with cerebral palsy. When he died she decided to start a charity to provide funds for research into the causes of cerebral palsy and other neurodevelopmental disorders leading to their prevention so that others would not be faced with his problems. When the Foundation first started the research into developmental disorders by the Government and the private sector was minimal and this continues to be the case today. The Foundation is one of the few organisations at the forefront of research into the causes and prevention of neurodevelopmental disorders. While many organisations try to provide help to finance equipment for people who have neurodevelopmental disorders to try and alleviate their problems, the Castang Foundation is one of the few funding bodies that is dedicated to looking at the causes of these conditions and hopefully planning their prevention. What we do?The Foundation funds research into the causes of neurodevelopmental disorders in children. It is one of the few non-government agencies in the UK sponsoring this type of research and trying to determine ways of preventing such disorders. The Foundation is concerned with conditions such as autism, learning disorders, cerebral palsy, specific learning disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorders (ADHD) etc.
